Australian travellers will have yet another South Pacific destination choice when Virgin Blue’s new joint venture airline, “Polynesian Blue” launches its first flight to Samoa from 30 October 2005.
The carrier is a partnership between Australian based award winning airline Virgin Blue and the Samoan Government and will provide high quality, affordable flights from Australia and New Zealand to Samoa.
The dynamic partnership will ensure that Samoa is positioned as an attractive option for holidaymakers looking to enjoy the world famous relaxed pace of the South Pacific.
Polynesian Blue will be the only airline offering a direct low cost carrier flight between Australia and Apia and will initially operate three direct flights per week between Apia and Sydney. Polynesian Blue will also fly four direct services per week between Apia and Auckland.
Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey said, “We are excited to be involved in this historic joint venture which brings a new aviation model to this part of the world and we applaud the Samoan Government’s progressive approach,” he said.
“We share a very simple strategy with the Samoan Government and that is to bring our affordable fares philosophy to the South Pacific Islands and to grow traffic to and from Samoa and within the region,” he said.
“It will also be the first time that Australians will have a low cost carrier direct flight to Samoa and we are confident this will encourage travellers to consider Samoa as accessible and easy to get to as other popular South Pacific destinations such as Fiji and Vanuatu.”
