Virgin Blue Launches Only Direct Perth-Gold Coast Flight
Virgin Blue will today launch a brand new flight between Perth and the Gold Coast, offering the first and only non-stop option between the two cities.
The new service will initially operate five days a week but is expected to move to daily services, subject to demand and ongoing support for the direct flights.
The decision to launch the service was due to the large number of Perth and Gold Coast based travellers who either had to connect via Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide or make the drive to Brisbane in order to catch a direct flight between the two cities.
Virgin Blue spokesperson Amanda Bolger said, “This new service is all about offering convenience and choice for both Gold Coast locals and West Australians wanting to compare surf breaks or take time out to get away from it all. While it will be great for tourism in both destinations, it will also be an affordable option for family and loved ones separated by the tyranny of distance and the inconvenience of flying indirectly.”
The Gold Coast has successfully increased its long-recognised desirability as an ideal “sun, surf and sand” holiday location for both domestic and international visitors, while WA has received accolades worldwide for producing some of Australia’s best wines as well as having its own fair share of natural wonders.
At the same time, Virgin Blue has developed a loyal base of Perth and Gold Coast business travellers who regularly take advantage of affordable fares to fly to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide to go about their business and they will now have yet another affordable and easy option to take advantage of.
Fares for the direct service from Perth – Gold Coast are available with Mid-Week Mini-Fares starting from $199* one-way on the net.
‘We are excited to be venturing into new territory in terms of being the only airline to offer this route and are confident that travellers will continue to support the carrier that supports their needs”, finished Amanda Bolger.
* All fares are for flights booked on the Internet. $10 more by phone. Fares are subject to availability and may not be available on all flights or peak days. Mid-Week Mini-Fares are for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only.
