Virgin Blue Boosts Regional Qld And Adelaide Services29/09/2004
Virgin Blue is continuing its campaign to offer more direct low fare options, today confirming plans to increase flight choices across a number of popular routes just in time for the Christmas holidays.
The enhanced schedule includes an extra daily service between Brisbane–Adelaide, and an additional six times weekly Brisbane–Rockhampton service, as well as offering an extra Sunday morning flight between Brisbane and the Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine).
Set to launch in late November, the new flights mean all major destinations in mid to far North Queensland will now have at least three weekday Virgin Blue services, therefore offering a more convenient schedule for both business and leisure travellers in both directions.
The schedule change also sees an improved Adelaide-Canberra product, which will now operate late afternoon ex-Adelaide with flights also being increased from six times weekly to a daily service from 31 October.
Today’s announcement comes hot on the heels of plans to offer additional frequency to and from Brisbane and Mackay, also taking that market to three daily services.
With the increase in capacity Virgin Blue will offer the highest frequency and capacity of any jet airline on the important Brisbane - Adelaide, Rockhampton, Whitsunday Coast and Mackay markets.
Virgin Blue spokesperson, Amanda Bolger, said, “It is evident from the continued demand on our services that thousands of people are taking advantage of Virgin Blue’s low fares and our enhanced schedule will provide even more opportunity for travellers to get away with affordable air travel to more and more destinations across the country with both non-stop and Guest friendly connecting services.”
She added, “The significant increase in flights is a direct result of the ongoing support we’ve received from travellers in these growing destinations who are clearly choosing to support the airline that offers not only great value but also a quality product and a convenient schedule whether you are travelling for business or leisure.”
