Virgin Blue’s bold expansion plans are gathering momentum, with the announcement today of even more flight choices across a number of key routes.

Virgin Blue Chief Executive, Brett Godfrey said, We have more aircraft arriving in June and the following months, which means we can roll out our accelerated expansion plans to benefit thousands of people wanting Virgin Blue’s low fares to more destinations across the country with both non-stop and connecting services.

The new services include:

The low fare airline will add an extra daily return between the Gold Coast and Sydney next month, with an early morning departure and convenient evening return to allow for a full business day in Sydney.

Strong load factors on existing services and demand for extra flights prompted Virgin Blue to boost capacity, with the new flights specifically designed to suit the needs of the Gold Coast based business traveller, as well as Sydneysiders eager to make the most of their holiday by taking off after work and returning in time for the working day.

It also means more low fare options for leisure travellers keen to head north for the sunshine of Queensland or the popular Northern New South Wales getaway spots such as Byron Bay

Every day one-way low fares range from $77* on the net to the Fully Flexible fare of $170*.

Flights to and from Tasmania are also included in the flight bonanza, with a new connecting service between Launceston and Perth via Melbourne with great low fares starting from $289* one-way.

The latest round of extra flights will further expand Virgin Blue’s existing route network with its brand new 737 aircraft to be operated on all of these routes and connections.

These are exciting times for Virgin Blue, it’s a huge growth phase for us as we cement our position as Australia’s leading low fare airline, the only carrier offering real low fares on a regular basis as well as genuine and friendly service in the air and on the ground.

Brett Godfrey continued, We have ambitious plans for domestic services as well as international flights in the future and are confident Virgin Blue will secure its goal of 25% market share by Christmas time. Whether it's Sydney for a song or Perth for peanuts, we remain vigilant and committed to keeping fares low on a long term basis.

* All fares exclude passenger ticket levy, airport charges and the global security charge and are for flights booked on the Internet. $5 more by phone. Subject to availability.
