Taken for the Aboriginal word meaning "red earth", Mildura helms a striking region of natural beauty. Rich earth is met underneath bright blue skies, with the vines of one of Australia's most prominent wine districts and the lull of the Murray River.
A friendly town with a long indigenous and migrant history, Mildura sits in the centre of Victoria's Food Bowl – otherwise known as the Sunraysia district – where most of the country's dried fruit, grapes, citrus, almonds, pistachios, olives, carrots and asparagus are grown.
